The National Technology Leadership Summit (NTLS)
brings together national leaders from educational associations, as
well as editors of educational technology journals, directors of
non-profit foundations, federal policy makers, and corporate representatives.
Recommendations and guidelines emerging from the summit are published
in a range of educational technology journals and are featured on
the programs of educational conferences. The goal is to accelerate
the meaningful impact of digital technologies in education for the
21st century.
Melissa Pierson and Bernard Robin attended the most recent NTLS
meeting in Fall 2007. The foci this year were Technological-Pedagogical-Content-Knowledge,
as well of the use of Video in innovative ways for teaching and learning.
Dr. Pierson is writing a chapter in a monograph based on the work
from the 2006 NTLS meeting entitled, “Framing Research on Technology
and the Content Areas on Student Learning,” aimed at informing
and inviting researchers in technology and teacher education
to address the complex nature of research in this area.
