Master's Program Admission Process

Admission Criteria for the Instructional Technology Master's Program
Each applicant must have earned a baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 for unconditional admission or a 2.6 GPA or above for conditional admission.
To be considered for the IT Master's Program, you will need to gather all required materials and send them to two separate destinations. The first set of materials will be sent to the University of Houston electronically. The second set of departmental materials should be sent to our Curriculum and Instruction Graduate Admissions Office.

All materials must be received by the application deadline in order to be considered for your semester of choice. Please DO NOT send any materials to 128 E. Cullen.
The candidate is responsible for assuring that all materials are received by the Office of Graduate Admissions.
University Materials (Received electronically)

- Application fee ($45 Domestic, $75 International)
- Official GRE scores (Less than 5 years old from the application deadline)
Departmental Materials (may be mailed, emailed or hand delivered to our office, 137 Farish Hall)
When the application folder is complete, the application is reviewed by the Instructional Technology program area and the Curriculum and Instruction Department. The Department will return the applicant's file to the Academic Affairs Office with a recommendation concerning admission.
The application is then submitted to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies for a decision. The Academic Affairs Office will officially notify the applicant of the decision. If approved, any conditions for admission will be stated on the approval form.
Assignment Of Advisor
The Instructional Technology program area will assign an advisor on the basis of student interest and the current advising load of our faculty. Students will be notified of the assignment of their faculty advisor by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The student is responsible for initiating contact with the assigned advisor, whose phone number is indicated on the admissions letter.
Conditional Admission
Conditional Admission may be granted to students who have a grade point average of at least 2.60 (A = 4.00). During the first twelve hours of study, students must maintain a 3.00 Grade Point Average.
Conditional Admission Completion forms are available from, and returned to the Curriculum and Instruction Office (FH 256). No credit will be granted for hours beyond 12 hours taken before receipt and approval of this form. Degree plans cannot be approved until conditions for admission are met. |
