The minor in Asian American Studies provides students with concrete opportunities to interact with the ethnically diverse members of the Asian/Asian American communities.

The Program promotes collaborative efforts between the University of Houston and other outstanding institutions throughout the world with the purpose of improving the quality of teaching, research and community services.

What will I learn?

Students will learn about Asian American Studies from a broad range of perspectives. Topics include:

  • Cultural Anthropology
  • Asian American History, Community and Culture
  • International Communications
  • Asian Economic and Political Development
  • Education Classroom-based
  • Chinese Culture through Literature and Films

To enrich this coursework, the program also offers:

  • Research projects,
  • Study abroad programs
  • Scholar exchange programs
  • Community activities
