Master Technology Teacher (MTT)

Prerequisite Skills Needed Before Applying for the MTT

To apply, please contact Dr. Jean Kiekel at jkiekel@mail.coe.uh.edu

What is an MTT?

The Master Teacher of Technology is a state-approved certification intended to help school districts identify teachers with an expertise in technology integration and mentorship in technology skills.  The University of Houston Master Technology Teacher program is uniquely suited to this mission and will provide all candidates with a strong foundation and capabilities to ensure their success as Master Technology Teachers.

Qualifications

Please check your prerequisites skills before submitting an application.

The University of Houston Instructional Technology program will open this certification program to all teachers who meet the criteria for admission to UH , as well as SBEC criteria for Master Technology Teacher certification:

  • Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience** OR

  • Technology Applications Certification

** SBEC requires teachers to have 3 years of classroom teaching experience in order to take the TExMaT exam. Applicants with less than 3 years teaching experience may be eligible for this program, however they would need to wait to take the exam until they reached that level of experience.

Please contact Dr. Jean Kiekel at jkiekel@mail.coe.uh.edu for advice on this option.
