Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Teaching & Learning

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers this degree program.

Is this program for me?

If you are interested in teaching children from early childhood through the eighth grade or Special Education at all levels, the Bachelor of Science degree in Teaching & Learning will help you do it. This major incorporates teacher certification preparation into its curriculum through the UH Teacher Education Program.

If you would like to pursue teaching certification at the Secondary level (8th -12th grade) or in Art or Music, you must major in the subject that you wish to teach. Students interested in teaching at the Secondary level must declare an Education Minor. These students should begin their process by seeing the advisor in the department of their specific major to learn more about requirements.

For planning purposes only, we provide sample degree plans for Teaching and Learning majors. To file an official degree plan, please see your academic advisor.

A student may petition the Department of Curriculum and Instruction to declare a major in Teaching & Learning or a minor in Education. Students must earn a minimum 2.50 grade point average in all courses attempted at this university.
