Assignment: Reflective Journal
Due Dates: Beginning-Jan 27, 29; Midterm-March 10, 12; Final-April 21, 23, plus others as topics arise
Description:
An essential feature of a mature learner is the ability to reflect on one's own learning –to think about your thinking, or to be “metacognitive.” Throughout this field experience semester you will keep a reflective journal of personal observations about how you are making sense of the “real” classroom.

You will write 3 substantial reflections:

  1. Beginning: a self-assessment of your technology proficiency as compared with the Texas Technology Applications for all Teachers at the beginning of the semester; perception of a technology-enriched learning environment.

  2. Midterm: a reflection on your progress with learning about technology and teaching, especially as it relates to learning in your other courses and how it might relate in your teaching.

  3. Final: a reflection on the semester as a whole, including your growth as a future teacher and your rating of your proficiency with the Texas Technology Applications for all Teachers.

Periodically, other reflections may also be required to be included on your online journal.

Each written response should be a coherent, well-written composition of at least 250 words. This journal will be kept on your own LiveJournal account, which you will set up at http://www.livejournal.com. Title your reflections with the appropriate title (e.g., "Beginning Reflection"). Please password protect any submission than contains information about individuals, including students and teachers.
