Select one time to come.
- Digital Storytelling.
Review
rubrics. (Note: The digital story is to teach a

TEKS, for this project, do not use autobiographical
material.)

demonstrate Photostory 3 in class next week.
Digital Stories to view:
-
Students Find Their Voices
through Multimedia While this article discusses a high school program, the examples
and gains that are discussed set the stage nicely for our
discussion of digital stories.
-
For a look
at more advanced possibilities in using digital storytelling,
view The War
Experience developed by graduate students here at UH. The
story I developed about my father is hosted on this site as
Heroism: Acts of Ordinary People During Extraordinary Times.
(Scroll down that page for a link to a larger view of the
video. Created with multiple applications, including Premiere
Elements.)
- Work on your own to
view several
digital storytelling examples from this
"jumping off" page:
- If you still need
more examples to set your vision,
here they are!
- Sketch out a
storyboard for your digital story. Preview an
example storyboard. Download this
storyboard worksheet,
save, fill in, and email as an attachment to Judy Meyers by
midnight on class day for the week of November 10. This is a plan - you can certainly change
your mind as you work over the next couple of weeks, but at
least this will keep you moving in the right direction.
- Take the
PhotoStory
Self-Tour. [You'll need to
download PhotoStory].
- See other
PhotoStory tutorials as you need them - just in time as
you work!
Note 1:
I am requiring you to make a digital story with still
pictures, although if you prefer to use video, that is fine,
too. Often, you can create a very similar effect with just a
“panning” motion on a still picture, for much less file size
than video. If you do choose video, you’ll need to use a
software other than PhotoStory, which only handles still
pictures. You can use
Windows MovieMaker, which is also free and is
automatically included in the Windows platform.
- Student Learning Support
draft is to be completed by March 24, 26 and uploaded
to your portfolio with a live link. Revised draft is due
April 7, 9. Student Learning Support cannot be
just a worksheet. See rubric
and examples.
- Peer Review of Learning Support to be posted in
Wikispaces (in provided discussion thread) by March 31,
April 2. Follow rubrics for guidelines. Provide positive
and delta comments for at least two learners in your group.
Delta comments are suggestions for improvement.
- Student Product Example is to be completed by March
31, April 2 and uploaded to your portfolio with a live
link. See rubric and
examples.
