Through this activity, pre-service teachers will gain a more thorough understanding of the Texas Technology Skills for Students at the grade level which they are observing. With the help of his or her cooperating teacher, the pre-service teacher will “adopt” a student from his or her observation classroom.  The pre-service teacher will then prepare an instrument based on the Texas TEKS for the grade level with which they are working.  Through an interview and observation process, the pre-service teacher will evaluate the student's technology skills.  A summary report will indicate how the student's skills measure up to the state requirements.

Due Date

Monday, October 25, at 12:00 midnight.

The pre-service teacher will develop an instrument to assess their student for achievement of the Texas Technology Skills (http://www.tcet.unt.edu/START/teks/res.htm) for students at that grade level.  The pre-service teacher will submit the completed assessment tool and a one-page synopsis detailing the strengths and weaknesses of their student’s technology preparation.

Your Student Case Study will be evaluated to determine if it contains the following components.

• Includes a rubric, checklist, quiz or other evaluation instrument based upon the Texas Technology Skills for the student's grade level.
• Includes an approximately 1-page synopsis of the case study findings.  Synopsis is detailed enough to indicate that the CUIN 3113 student has understood the implications of his/her findings and can adequately incorporate them into his/her plans for teaching with technology.
