Course Description
CUIN 6345 is a graduate level Instructional Technology course that focuses on how technology tools and resources can be integrated into the curriculum. Individual topics have been suggested by the instructors and students will have an opportunity to help determine whether or not changes need to be made to accommodate other needs.
The course is based to a large degree on constructivist learning principles, whereby all participants, students and instructors alike, will work together to develop individual understandings of creative solutions to real problems. During the course, a range of technologies will be explored and used. A mixture of demonstration, discussion, and hands-on experiences related to classroom use of technology will take place each week. These experiences will take place both in class, where students will participate in face-to-face discussions and conduct topic-related activities, as well as online, where students will participate in virtual discussions via an online discussion forum. Students may sometimes work alone or in small, collaborative groups to complete weekly reading, posting, and hands-on assignments throughout the semester. Each class session for this course will include a web page that presents the information covered in that week's class, a description of a hands-on activity, and the assignments for the next class.
Attendance and Participation
Regular class attendance is expected, as is appropriate and informed class participation. However, in accordance with today's fast pace and numerous obligations, students who must miss some classes will not be penalized. Students are expected to complete all weekly assignments, even when they are unable to attend a class meeting.
Time Requirements
Course topics will be demonstrated and discussed in class; however, additional time outside of class is required to complete weekly assignments and the final semester project. A portion of each class will include time for students to practice and work on class topics and weekly assignments.
Class Meeting Time & location
Classes are scheduled to meet from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Thursday evenings. The first class will meet on Thursday, May 31, 2007, and the final class meeting of the semester will take place on Thursday, August 9, 2007.
Classes to be held from 4:30pm to 8:00pm, with 4:30 - 5:00 reserved for review, questions & answers, and in-class work time. New material will begin at 5:00pm.
Our classes will be held in the building sometimes referred to as the Jones Library, the Jesse Jones Library, the HAM-TMC Library, and the HAM-TMC Medical Library.

Once you get to the library building, our class will be held in the computer
classroom, which seems to be located in the basement of the building,
although the official name of the room is the “Street Level Classroom,” not
to be confused with the “Street Level Conference Room.” If you have trouble
finding the room, please ask someone at the check-out desk by the main
entrance to direct you to the computer classroom.
