Qualities of Online Students

In general, an online student should possess the following qualities:

Be willing to share and use experiences as part of the learning process. 
 
Be able to think critically about learning and communicate thoughts and reflections through writing.  
   
Be interested in the topic and be self-motivated to learn and explore in relevant and purposeful directions.
   
Have a real commitment to participation and the discipline to keep up with the flow of the process.
   
Be willing to discuss and question the content with other learners and communicate with the instructor if problems arise.
   
Be committed to spending 6 to 10 hours per week interacting with the other students and the materials.
   
Have reliable and convenient access to the online environment through a dependable Internet Service Provider and appropriate hardware and software.
   
Feel that high quality learning can take place without being in a traditional classroom.
