Carrie MarkelloCarrie Markello

Carrie Markello’s projects include the development of GRASSROOTS Art in Action with Dr. Sara Wilson McKay. GRASSROOTS focuses on preserving and promoting creativity and critical thinking in classrooms, communities through the facilitation of collaborations among artists and teachers, including those who serve as art educators, and community arts organizations. Artists can connect with other art professionals through the GRASSROOTS listserve, meeting to look at art together, creating an art car for Houston’s art car parade, and/or joining an art critique group. In addition, Carrie worked with Lawndale Art Center on the development of a website for art educators who have participated in Lawndale’s Dia de los Muertos celebration in the past and for GRASSROOTS art educators interested in incorporating Dia de los Muertos into their curriculum. The participating educators were involved in the development process.
