Where: Hofheinz Pavilion

What should I wear under my robe?
We ask that graduates wear dress shoes, no tennis; dresses, skirts and dress pants for ladies and slacks for men. No jeans please. Your attire should reflect the auspicious nature of the occasion.

What do I do with my rented cap and gown after the ceremony?
The UH Bookstore will have representatives posted in the line up area and on the concourse of the pavilion to receive your regalia.

How long is the ceremony?
We tell students to prepare for at least a 2½ hour program.

How do I get my pictures from the photographer?
Contact Flash Photography: 817-924-2626 or www.FlashPhotography.com

What do I do with my belongings –purse, coat, hangers, etc.?
We ask that graduates leave all personal items in your car or with your relatives. We have no secure place to store these and will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

What if I want to leave before the ceremony is over?
We do not allow graduates to leave the floor before the ceremony is over. We want to preserve the dignity of the program and don’t want to distract others.

Can I walk in the ceremony if I have not completed my coursework?
The college does not permit students with coursework remaining to participate in the graduation ceremony.

How do I know if I am graduating with honors?
Undergraduate students who complete their requirements with exceptionally high scholastic averages may be eligible for baccalaureate degrees with honors:

  • Cum Laude 3.25 to 3.49 GPA
  • Magna Cum Laude 3.50 to 3.74 GPA
  • Summa Cum Laude 3.75 to 4.00 GPA

Graduation with honors is dependent upon the appropriate cumulative GPA in 60 advanced hours at the University of Houston or the appropriate cumulative GPA in the last sixty-six (66) hours completed at the University of Houston.
Note: The honors calculation will include all hours completed in the semester in which the first of those final sixty-six (66) hours was completed.

I completed my program in Summer, can I walk in the December ceremony?
Yes, the December ceremony is for our Summer and Fall graduates.
