GENERAL GRADUATION INFORMATION

Applications should be filed either the semester prior to or the semester in which the student plans to graduate. Students must complete ALL requirements toward their degree in the semester they intend to graduate. Undergraduate students who complete their degree requirements will graduate with the stated academic honors if they achieve the appropriate grade point averages earned in the last sixty-six (66) hours completed at the University of Houston. If you wish to graduate in the current semester and were disapproved for graduation in any past semester, you must refile for graduation. Note: Students must clear all financial stops and meet any exit interview obligations before applying for graduation.

Deadline dates are as follows:

Spring 2008 Friday, February 8, 2008
Summer 2008 Friday, June 27, 2008
Fall 2008 Friday, September 19, 2008

Note: Students who have been disapproved for the semester for which they first applied MUST reapply by the deadline in the semester when they will again be eligible for graduation.

GRADUATION APPLICATION
You may apply for graduation using an online application form by logging on to the Enrollment Services Online or completing all information on a downloaded hard copy of the graduation application form. Applications are also available in the Graduation Office, 108 Ezekiel W. Cullen Building. The filing fee of $25 will be billed directly to your account by Student Financial Services. Do not send cash, check, or money order. A late fee of $10 will be charged if application is made after the filing deadline. (Note: Some colleges do not accept applications after the deadline.)

HONORS
Undergraduate students who complete their requirements with exceptionally high scholastic averages may be eligible for baccalaureate degrees with honors:

Cum Laude

3.25 to 3.49 GPA

Magna Cum Laude

3.50 to 3.74 GPA

Summa Cum Laude

3.75 to 4.00 GPA

Graduation with honors is dependent upon the appropriate cumulative GPA in 60 advanced hours at the University of Houston or the appropriate cumulative GPA in the last sixty-six (66) hours completed at the University of Houston. Note: The honors calculation will include all hours completed in the semester in which the first of those final sixty-six (66) hours was completed.
Questions regarding the calculation of honors and honors requirements should be addressed to the graduation analyst in the college of the applicant's major.

MINORS
Students may graduate with a minor as well as a major. However, not all departments offer minor programs. In order to be eligible to graduate with an approved minor, you must have a minor plan prepared. Please indicate if you intend to receive a minor on the application form. Requirements for the minor will be checked in the college offering the minor.

Diplomas. Diplomas will be mailed four to six weeks after the semester graduation date. If your address changes after you apply for graduation, please call the Graduation Office at (713)743-1010 and report the changes.

Privacy. If you have previously requested that your record reflect a "DO NOT RELEASE PUBLIC INFORMATION" notice or if you do not want your name to appear on the commencement program, please indicate on the graduation application. Otherwise your name will be listed on the commencement program.

Filing Fee. If you do not mail in your application, you may submit your application to 108 Ezekiel W. Cullen Building. The graduation fee is $25 for all candidates. An additional late fee of $10 will be assessed if the application is made after the filing deadline. The graduation fee and late application fee are nonrefundable. The filing fee will be billed to your account.
