Barry C. Pelton Endowment Scholarship-Health & Human Performance Undergraduate Only

Description

This scholarship is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Health and Human Performance Department. To apply, please fill out a College of Education Scholarship application and include all the required materials as listed below.

Notification of awards will be sent by mail.

Nominations may be submitted by the nominee, Hou-Pep and/or a faculty member of the Health and Human Performance Department.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant is an outstanding student in the Department of Health and Human Performance.
Applicant has expressed commitment to the physical education profession.
Applicant maintains a minimum of 2.5 GPA.
Applicant is in financial need (as indicated on their Income Tax Return Form).

Checklist (please initial on line indicating submission of required documentation)

The student applying for the scholarship must present the following items.

____A College of Education Scholarship application form.
____A one-page letter of nomination.
____A one-page statement of teaching philosophy and commitment to the physical education
        profession.
____A current resume.
____An up-to-date University of Houston transcript.
____Documentation of financial need (i.e.Tax Return Form).
____Three letters of recommendation from faculty in the College of Education such as a
        methods course instructor, student teacher supervisor or general education instructor.

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the Scholarship Committee in the Department of Health and Human Performance.
