Description

This scholarship is available to full-time (12 hours) undergraduate junior or senior degree-seeking students pursuing a career in elementary education.  Scholarships will be awarded to applicants exhibiting leadership qualities as determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.  

Notification of awards will be sent by mail.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicant must be a certified full-time undergraduate (12 hours) junior or senior degree seeking student in good standing in the College of Education and the University of Houston.
2. Applicants must be a declared Education major pursuing a career in elementary education.
3. Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better.
4. Scholarship recipients may accept other scholarships and grants.
5. Funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition, books, fees, room and board and/or supplies for the coming academic semester.  Any expenses of a recipient in excess of the amount deposited must be borne by the student.
6. Applicants must demonstrate financial need (i.e. Income Tax Return Form).

Materials

•   Completed College of Education Scholarship Application
•   A current University of Houston transcript
•   Proof of financial need (W-4/Tax Return Statement).
•   Three letters of recommendation from faculty in the College of Education such
     as methods course instructor, student teacher supervisor or general education
     instructor.
•   A one-page statement of professional goals and teaching philosophy
•   A current resume

Awards for this scholarship will be determined by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.
