These are the conditions for advancement to candidacy, which is a requirement for eligibility to take the comprehensive exams. (See pg.14 in the Handbook)

Completion of 9 of the 18 hours required for the COE Doctoral Core. 3 hours must be in research.

Completion of at least 15 hours in the major of study.

Completion of all requirements of candidacy research paper, including submission of paperwork.
°
Approved degree plan on file.
°
Approved application for full-time doctoral residency is on file.
