The Comprehensive Examination consists of two parts:

 
General Knowledge Question

Students write for three hours about history and professional issues in Counseling Psychology, pertinent theory, and research. All students testing on the same day receive the same question. This question is usually scheduled on a Saturday morning.

 
Specialty Question

An individualized question relating to one of the following areas of emphasis:

  • Supervision and Training
  • Career and Vocational Counseling
  • Consultation and Intervention
  • Theory, Process, and Outcomes of Counseling and Therapy

See pg. 17 in the Handbook for complete information about this question. The Specialty question is usually scheduled for six hours, a Friday morning and afternoon.
