| Remediation Procedures for Students Who Fail |
When a student fails the comprehensive exam: |
| |
| |
Remediation Committee |
A remediation committee is formed, consisting of two faculty members, not including the advisor. See pg. 18 in the Handbook for a comprehensive description of remediation policy regarding the exam. |
| |
|
Review |
The committee reviews the student's performance on the exam, as well as the student's academic and professional history. |
| |
|
Educational Plan |
The committee devises an educational plan for the student. The student and the advisor review the plan and the committee considers their suggestions before finalizing the plan. The student may not retake the exam until the plan is completed, as determined by the committee. |
|
| |
Students may retake the exam only once, with the written approval of the student's advisor and the department chairperson. (See pg.18 in the Handbook)
