REVIEW SESSIONS

The Curriculum and Instruction Department offers TExES review sessions to currently enrolled education students free of charge covering several representative sample test topics. Students interested in attending a review session need to locate the session topic in which they are interested and follow the registration instructions on the page.

Some session have limited seating so it is important to sign up early. Additionally, please note that sessions begin promptly at the time listed and students arriving more than 15 minutes late can be turned away and asked to register for another session.

Students who attend a review session are provided three (3) complimentary testing center tests. Once a session is attended, students' names are sent to the testing center and the next three representative sample tests taken are given free of charge.

Your performance on the representative sample tests, and in turn the state exams, is very important to us. These review sessions are available and free to main campus students only. We track your scores on these tests closely so that instructors and advisors know how best assist you. If you have taken a representative sample test three times and have not passed, you may qualify for individual tutoring. Please contact your advisor for more information.

  • EC-6 Generalist
  • Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR)
You will need to take the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) test specific to the certification level (EC-4, 4-8, 8-12, or EC-12) in which you are pursuing.
  • EC-Bilingual Generalist
The Bilingual Generalist review is primarily intended for those students who have completed their required bilingual coursework and are enrolled in or about to enroll in QUEST 2. While you are welcome to take the benchmark exam prior to this time, we find that the review session is more beneficial once you have completed this coursework.
  • Content Specific
You will also need to take the appropriate content-specific test. A complete list of content-specific tests, offered through the University of Houston teacher preparation program, can be obtained from the other programs list on the College of Education website.

Please refer to the QUEST calendar for additional information and to receive updated notices in your Google calendar.

Practice software for the PPR and EC-4 generalist exams are available for use in RM 327. Practice the exams anytime whenever a class is not in progress.
