14th CENTURY QUR’AN LEAF

This tiny Qur’an leaf is most certainly from a personal Qur’an. Judging from its small size, it was probably a “pocket-sized” Qur’an which belonged to an individual who carefully carried it with him when he traveled. The script is finely executed, yet is clearly legible with each letter carefully articulated and punctuated. This Qur’an leaf is written on very fine paper and illuminated with gold verse markers and marginal notations.
