POCKET QUR’AN OR PRAYER BOOK

This miniature, lacquered box with painted floral decoration is actually a traditional type of case for either a pocket-sized Qur’an or a personal Islamic prayer book. It could be easily transported and was beautiful enough to be displayed in the home. Like the Christian books of hours, it was a personal aesthetic and spiritual treasure.
