Dr. Pat Wilson honored as University Distinguished Alumna

In recognition of Dr. Patricia Potter Wilson’s commitment to enriching the lives of others, the Houston Alumni Organization honored her as a 2005 Distinguished Alumna of the University of Houston at an award dinner on May 20, 2005.
Wilson received her Doctor of Education degree from UH College of Education in 1986 after receiving her Master’s in Education from UH-Clear Lake in 1979. She joined the faculty at UH-Clear Lake in 1988, where she received numerous teaching awards, including the President’s Distinguished Teaching Award. In addition to providing extensive community service in the Bay Area, Wilson has authored six books and numerous journal articles. Now a faculty emerita, Wilson continues to devote herself to philanthropic endeavors and traveling.
Wilson and her husband, Captain Wendell Wilson, established the Wilson Presidential Endowed Scholarship at the University of Houston in 2001 to benefit students in the College of Education. “The biggest reward of being an educator is knowing that I have touched so many lives by instilling in students of all ages the desire for lifelong learning,” Wilson said. “Our endowed scholarship will enable individuals with a passion for teaching to fulfill their own dreams, and then go on to touch the lives of their own students.”
