Dallas and Fort Worth are the population concentration and cultural centers of Area III, an area which spreads from Palo Pinto County to the Louisiana border.  The Trinity and Sabine Rivers and the Cross Timbers National Grasslands mark the landscape that progresses from grasslands to oak, hickory, and pine forests. The members of TAEA living in Area III are fortunate to be near major museums in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, but there are also other excellent regional institutions such as the Tyler and Longview Museums to enrich the art environment.

Counties in Area III: Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Fanning, Franklin, Grayson, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hood, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Palo Pinto, Panola, Parker, Rains,
