Our Research Philosophy:

Research has clearly stated that teachers who have been trained in an authentic setting, and who have participated in the student teaching semester, are better prepared than those who have not had these experiences.

The Transition to Teaching Curriculum

The Transition to Teaching curriculum is specially designed for the particular needs of our selected candidates. This program will provide opportunities for candidates (cohorts of 30 each semester) to experience teaching and learning as a well integrated body of knowledge. Candidates participate in coursework in classroom management, multicultural education, second language learners, special education, and methodology for their specific content area.

Additionally, each candidate participates in authentic classroom experiences for two semesters working in a part-time co-teaching environment.
