William Lawson was the Director of the Baptist Student Union and professor of Bible at TSU in 1960. Student protestors came to Lawson for advice in peaceful protesting before their first sit-in at Weingarten's. Lawson advised the group not to protest for fear that they would ruin future opportunities for themselves. However, Lawson soon realized there was nothing he could say to stop the headstrong students and the sit-in continued as planned.
Lawson is currently the pastor at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston.we would be grateful to hear your personal stories, suggestions and comments
