THE INSTITUTE FOR URBAN EDUCATION

The mission of the Institute for Urban Education (IUE) is to strengthen the education of children and youth in urban metropolitan settings by preparing educational researchers and leaders who are committed to urban education and by enhancing university participation in schools and other community agencies.

The Institute fosters, facilitates, and stimulates collaborative efforts throughout the University of Houston and with other institutions, both in Houston and throughout the state of Texas.

Three centers are located in the Institute for Urban Education:
